Midterm Idea.
1.
For the first dish I have is a piece of cold tofu along with the warm peanut butter, presented on a large ice stone. The idea comes from a dish of my dad's. I don't know where he had this idea to stew tofu by using peanut butter, soy sauce, and ground pork. At first, I thought about deep fry tofu then pull the special peanut butter on top but later I think it would be too heavy to eat, which really isn't my style. The black stone and the white tofu would create a greater contrast between these two ingredients while you are tasting the soft one on the top of the hard. The temperature of tofu and sauce would be another layer of the differences which hopefully could give the diners a poignant contrast. I am a Gemini so I believe there are two "me" stay inside of my body. This dish is presenting both of "me" temperature-wise taste-wise and visually.
2.
The second idea comes from my Nany who I met when I was 5. She cooked almost every dinner for me in the next 7 years till I got into middle school. I would say that she gave me the most impact on culinary. This dish transferred from a dish I love which requires freshness because Chinese glass noodle would taste horrible once it has been set or cook too long. A small amount of glass noodle would be placed in a crystal clear glass bowl which contains Chinese sauerkraut soup. The whole dish would look like a nice piece green jade which means safety and luck. After all those years my Nany spent with me, what has been left in my mind is the feeling of her yarn clothes. The reason I choose glass noodle is not only because that is a unique thing in Chinese cuisine but also the taste of it remind me of her yarn clothes.
